A mooring spring originally created by Livio Pigini, the founder of Nautica Italiana Srl to moor boats, has now been used for the task of mooring a concrete breakwater in Norway's hostile maritime enviroment.

Nereide is a system used in the North Sea to keep floating jetties anchored firmly to terra firma. However, the berthing dampers used were actually originally designed and manufactured by Nautica Italiana for boats, ranging from a few hundred kilos to over 25 tonnes. However, it only takes two simple knots on the berthing line to install them.
